and Regionalization: Old Wine in New Bottle"

18h00
- 19h30, Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
The Conference Room, 2nd
Floor, Building 10, National Economics University 207 Giai
Phong Road, Hanoi
Abstract
Since the early 1990s there has been a proliferation of
regional and bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) or preferential trade
agreements (PTAs) between developed and developing countries. This is sometimes
called "new regionalism". The lecture will discuss the theoretical underpinning
of recent PTAs to help understanding whether these macro-regions are stepping
stones or stumbling blocks and what are their effects on the local production
systems.
